The Menendez Institute
for Divergent Practice
Providing financial support to talented artists.
The Menendez Institute for Divergent Practice is a 501(c)(3) public charity supporting artists whose work inspires us to contribute to their ongoing production.
We believe consequential work often develops at the edges of established systems. The Institute provides direct support, recognition, and a growing public record for artists pursuing singular and ambitious practices.
The MIDP Studio Award is a recurring grant for artists developing independent, divergent practices.
The inaugural award will provide $1500 in unrestricted support to three artists.
Applications open Black Friday weekend, November 2026, and close December 31, 2026. The recipient will be announced in March 2027.
Application fee: $3.33.
The Studio Award is the Institute’s first program and the beginning of a longer commitment to artistic development. As resources and partnerships grow, the Institute intends to expand its direct support and develop future residency and major-award initiatives.
We are building patiently: through meaningful support, thoughtful selection, and an enduring archive of the artists we recognize.
The Menendez Institute does not solicit donations, but we do sometimes make artwork available for private or institutional collection.
